GEPB Safe Practice Procedures

Golden Eagle PONY Baseball

Safe Practice Procedures

There are a number of restrictions to ensure our safety on the field. Just remember two highly-positive outcomes: 1) We are able to get back on the field! 2) We are all doing our part to stay healthy and keep those around us healthy.

• Sick? Stay home – Should the athlete not feel well in any capacity, it is important to stay home. Take care of your peers and coaches by making wise choices. Anyone currently experiencing fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle aches, sore throat, runny nose or congestion, loss of taste or smell, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea is not permitted to participate and should be sent home immediately. Coaches and athletes will be asked health questions prior to participation.
• All practices are voluntary – Please understand that we realize the seriousness of the situation. Please do not feel that you will be left out if you are uncomfortable participating in practice. However, we must begin to prepare in one way or another. I trust that our players are preparing themselves on their own.
• Practice times – Practice times will be staggered to prevent as little exposure as possible. There will be 30 minutes in between each start time. There will be no player congregation in between practices
• Practice Duration – Practices will be in 1 to 1.5- hour sessions.
• No spectators at practice – Please drop off child and collect at designated times
• Please arrive on time – Please arrive and pick up on time. We cant have players late to practice or late leaving. Again, to lessen the exposure with other players.
• We will provide soaps, sanitizers and disinfectants – We hope that each player can also have their own sanitizer.
• Wash hands before and after practice
• No Food – No sunflower seeds or food at anytime
• Take Roll for attendance – Attendance will be taken and recorded for each day a player is here.

Please be conscious and aware of your exposure prior to arriving to practice. Continue to practice good hygiene and smart choices off the field of play.

• Small groups – No more than 12, which includes the coaches, in a practice session.
• No Touching – No handshakes or fist bumps.
• Distancing during drills – Stay 6 feet apart at all times, cones will be literally spread 10 yards apart to remind the distancing.
• Assign Partners – We will work in groups of 2 or 3. To eliminate possible cross exposure. The groups assigned will remain the same throughout the practice.
• Disinfect the baseballs  After each practice session
• Coaches must wear face coverings – Cover the nose and mouth at all times
• Isolate equipment – Each individual player will have his own designated area to place equipment that will be spaced by 10 feet.
• Isolate Water bottles
• Minimize equipment, No travel bags – Only bring Bat, Helmet, Glove. This eliminates the potential of contaminating or any surface being contaminated. The less the better. Catchers are able to bring larger gear bags.
• Maintain a sanitized area
• Don’t touch anyone elses equipment – Also, no using anyone else’s equipment.
• Respect Each Other’s Space
• Returning home – When you return home, wash clothes and spray down equipment

As we work to get through these tough times please know that we will closely monitor the latest developments and directives from our county and state.
