Coach's Corner

Here you can find all the necessary requirements to Coach, along with a few other helpful items.

Required Items

The State of California Requires Training and Certifications for Managers/Coaches, Administrators and Sports Officials and must be completed before any engagement with the players. This includes All Managers, Coaches, Umpires and Board Members. 

Background Check/Live Scan

All Volunteers, who has direct contact with players of at least 16 hours a month (or 32 hours per year), which applies to most coaches, and team parents, must complete the Live Scan process. 

Live Scan process is a one-time submittal with Golden Eagle Baseball.  If you have had a 5 year gap in volunteering with our League, you will need to submit a new Live Scan.

Concussion Training

California law requires that all managers/coaches, administrators and officials must complete an online concussion training at least once before supervising youth athletes; a certificate from a prior season is valid for this season. It takes only about 30 minutes to complete the training.

Concussion Training Certificates are required to be renewed every 2 years by the State of California.

For this training ,
  1. Log in or Create an Account

- When prompted to Select a Community of Practice, select "Other" and "Other Public Health Interests"

Select: Your county - "Placer"

You will then be prompted to complete your profile. Enter a contact number and your address. When it comes to adding the Organization information, enter the following:

1. Organization Name: "Pony"
2. 
Department/Division: ""
3. 
Title: "Manager, Coach, Volunteer, etc."

- On the main page for the course, Click the green "Pre-Assessment" button

Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting

All Volunteers, who has direct contact with players of at least 16 hours a month (or 32 hours per year), which applies to most coaches, and team parents, must complete the Abuse Awareness training provided by USA Baseball and SafeSport. 

Child Abuse and Neglect Training Certificates are required to be renewed every 2 years by the State of California.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention 

State law requires the same protocols used for concussions in youth and high school sports to be used to help protect young athletes participating in school and community youth sports organizations from sudden cardiac arrest.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest is the number one cause of death in the United States for student athletes during exercise. Caused by a structural or electrical problem associated with the heart, Sudden Cardiac Arrest happens when the heart unexpectedly stops beating and pumping blood. 

Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training Certificates are required to be renewed every 2 years by the State of California.
